Kiosk time clock
Turn any tablet into a kiosk time clock
A kiosk time clock is a shared device at your workplace where employees clock in and out. With KioskClock, that device is the tablet you already own, running in its web browser. Pair it once and it stays a time clock: it can punch employees in and out, and nothing else.
Set up a tablet in under a minute
There are two ways to pair a tablet, and neither needs an app store.
- On the tablet: sign in and tap “Use this device as the time clock”. You're signed out on that tablet, so employees can't reach your dashboard.
- From your computer: open Settings, then Set up a tablet, and scan the pairing QR code with the tablet's camera. The code works once and expires after 15 minutes.
- Optional: add the time clock to the home screen for a full-screen kiosk, and turn on Guided Access (iPad) or screen pinning (Android) to lock it to the clock.
Built for a shared screen
The kiosk has one big button: Scan badge. The camera opens, reads the badge, and the screen confirms the person's name, whether they clocked in or out, and how long they've worked today. Then it returns to the start, ready for the next person.
The screen stays awake while the clock is open, and you can switch between the front and back camera. A USB or Bluetooth barcode scanner that types into the browser works as well.
Secure by design
A paired tablet holds a secret token, not your login. It can only record punches for your business. Lost the tablet or replacing it? Disconnect it from Settings and it stops working immediately.
Recommended setup
- Any iPad (iPadOS 16 or later) or Android tablet with Chrome
- A stand or wall mount at chest height near the entrance
- Keep it plugged in and on Wi-Fi
- Allow camera access for the site and choose “Always allow” where your browser offers it
Frequently asked questions
What tablet or device do I need?
Any iPad, Android tablet or laptop with a camera and a modern browser (Safari, Chrome, Edge or Firefox). Nothing to install: open the time clock page, allow the camera, and leave it running. USB and Bluetooth barcode scanners that type into the browser work too.
Can I use more than one tablet or location?
Yes. Set up as many time clocks as you like and disconnect any of them from Settings. All punches land in the same timesheets.
Is my data secure?
Data is encrypted in transit and at rest, and every business can only ever read its own records. Tablets are paired with a secret that you can revoke at any time, and they can only clock people in and out: they can't open your dashboard.
Does the time clock work without internet?
The tablet needs an internet connection when someone scans, because every punch is saved straight to your account. If the connection drops, the screen says so and the employee can scan again a moment later.
Can employees clock in for each other?
A badge is like any key card: someone could scan a coworker's. The tablet shows each person's name in large type after every scan, so keeping it where a manager can see it is a strong deterrent, and you can reissue a badge at any time. Photo capture on scan is on our roadmap.
